Veterans & Human Resilience
What supports resilience and belonging?
The documented foundation
Past work in context.
Prior work on aging, accessibility and human-centered technology provides a starting point for questions about veterans’ environments and well-being.
Current development
Where the work stands.
This prospective direction focuses on questions of belonging, reintegration and quality of life, shaped around veterans’ experiences and priorities.
Prospective investigations
Questions worth developing.
Develop appropriate questions with veterans and relevant community partners about reintegration, isolation, aging, participation and psychological well-being.
- Which aspects of belonging and reintegration should research prioritize from veterans’ own perspectives?
- How do accessibility, service environments and social context affect participation?
- Where might aging-related needs intersect with community connection and perceived autonomy?
Methods & scope
From a question to an appropriate method.
Early work could involve literature mapping and partner-led scoping. Any participant research would require a defined partnership, appropriate expertise, ethical review and clear arrangements for consent and data protection.
Research focus
Military and later-life experiences are diverse. Research questions and methods should reflect participants’ contexts, priorities and perspectives.
